John, if you need something to inspire you today, look no further than Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.

Just two years ago, the Luzerne County Council had a 10–1 Republican supermajority. Most political operatives would’ve written it off as unwinnable. But despite the GOP’s grip on a community devastated by abandoned mines, Superfund sites, and unchecked fracking pollution, there was still hope.

We went all in to endorse local leaders brave enough to challenge Big Oil. And in 2023, we helped flip four seats and broke the Republican stranglehold. Suddenly, the Luzerne County Council went from a 10–1 Republican supermajority to a much less powerful 7–4 GOP majority.

Fast forward to today: We've endorsed three climate champions for the Luzerne County Council, and if we can win just two seats, we can flip the council to a pro-environment majority.
