Hello friend,
Last week, my opponent decided to use our debate as an opportunity — not to share her ideas on how to make our communities safer and more affordable — but instead to attack my family.
This is the part of politics that turns people away and I am disappointed. I’m running to put a stop to this kind of ugliness.
In case you don’t know this about me:
* I grew up on a farm in Puyallup, where I learned the values of hard work, community, and perseverance.
* My father was a Vietnam veteran and union construction worker, and my brother proudly followed in his footsteps.
* I’m a lifelong advocate for public education. I attended public schools K–12 and sent all three of my children through public schools as well.
* I was the first and only in my family to graduate from college, working my way through school to help pay for my education.
* My husband immigrated from Sri Lanka, and his family worked hard to build their lives here in the U.S.
* Together, my husband and I have built a life rooted in hard work, service, and giving back.
I want everyone to have the same opportunities my husband and I have had to build a good life. Unfortunately, that promise — the American Dream — is slipping out of reach for too many. I’m committed to working toward making it a reality for all.
I’ve worked hard to get where I am today, and I want voters to know my story — and the work I’m doing to make that same opportunity possible for everyone. Our campaign ads help share that message, but keeping them on the air takes resources. If you’re able to contribute today, your support will help us reach more voters and stand strong against misleading attacks. It truly means the world to me.
