Molly Taylor’s Work to Restore the Land, One Turkey at a Time
At Real Good Fish, we believe food is more meaningful and more delicious, when you know the people and values behind it. That’s why we’re proud to partner with producers who raise food with deep respect for the environment, the animals, and the people who enjoy it.
Today, we’re excited to introduce you to PT Ranch ([link removed]) , a family-owned, regenerative ranch in the Sierra Foothills that’s helping redefine what responsible farming looks like. Under the thoughtful leadership of Molly Taylor, Ranch Manager and passionate land steward, PT Ranch is working to heal and restore California’s rangelands—starting with their own soil. By raising turkeys in harmony with nature, without synthetic chemicals or harmful practices, the Taylors are creating a model for climate-smart agriculture rooted in biodiversity, soil health, and community.
Scroll down to reserve your PT Ranch turkey and learn more about Molly’s inspiring work to build a better food system from the ground up.
We’re shipping earlier this year to ensure every turkey arrives before the holiday rush. Your bird will arrive ready to brine or season.

Molly's Vision and Commitment
When the Taylors took over Molly’s grandfather’s ranch in Amador County, California, with their ranch dog Ozzy in tow, the land was in rough shape. About 99% of California’s rangeland, it was depleted: dominated by low-quality annual grasses, compacted soils, and invasive weeds. “They are dominated by low-quality annual forages, highly compacted, and host to lots of invasive weeds,” Molly notes.
In the five years since, they’ve been steadily transforming the ranch into the healthy, thriving ecosystem it is today. “We immediately stopped the use of herbicides, synthetic fertilizers, and tillage, and started managing our grazing, integrating different types of livestock, and using cover crops,” Molly explains. And the impact has been profound. Just like with ocean ecosystems,
when you work with nature and give it space to heal, the results can be nothing short of remarkable.
Their approach isn’t just guided by vision and passion, it’s backed by systems and data. Every step they take is measured so their progress can be tracked, validated, and eventually replicated on other ranches to help combat climate change.
Today, the Taylors are not only restoring the land—, they’re also raising pigs, sheep, vegetables, and producing small batches of olive oil, honey, and lavender, too..
The Turkey Your Thanksgiving Deserves
These free-range turkeys graze on perennial native grasses and are raised slowly and naturally, resulting in meat that’s both juicy and full of flavor. The breeds selected have a larger breast and a higher white-to-dark meat ratio, making them similar in size and taste to a traditional Thanksgiving turkey. For generous servings and a bit left over for sandwiches, we recommend planning for 1.5 pounds per guest.
Our favorite way to enjoy the PT Ranch turkey is with an overnight brine ([link removed]) with lots of citrus peels and fresh herbs foraged from the Lovewell farm! It comes out so beautiful, flavorful, and juicy. Truly the centerpiece of a special Thanksgiving table.
