NYC Antisemitism Crisis Intensifies in 2025
After recording a record 976 antisemitic incidents in 2024 — the highest count by ADL in any U.S. city ever — New York is experiencing an alarming number of incidents in 2025,
according to the ADL Center on Extremism. The brazenness and intensity of attacks across all five boroughs demand immediate action. Heading into last night’s final NYC Mayoral debate, ADL called on all candidates to provide a detailed plan on how they will keep Jewish New Yorkers safe.
Recent 2025 incidents reveal the severity:
 |
| Antisemitic vandalism on a park bench in Manhattan in September 2025. |
- In February, a man claiming to be Hitler’s reincarnation threatened to kill Manhattan synagogue worshippers. That same month, three Orthodox Jews were assaulted in just two days.
- In June, a Jewish man was kicked unconscious by an assailant screaming about Gaza. An elderly man was punched while hanging hostage posters. Anti-Israel protesters in Times Square chanted “Burn Tel Aviv to the ground.”
- In September, antisemitic vandalism reading “Free Palestine, Jew” hit a park bench, subway car, and an NYU freshman's dorm room.
- Campus incidents continue at Columbia, NYU, and at Fordham, where a fence was spray-painted: “Kill Jews.”
This isn’t subsiding — it’s accelerating.

Ceasefire or Not, Hatred of Israel Continues: ADL’s SVP of International Affairs, Marina Rosenberg writes a searing op-ed exposing the true motives of many in the anti-Israel movement.
After two long years of conflict and pain, the world finally witnessed a long-awaited moment last week: 20 living hostages returned to Israel from Hamas captivity and a ceasefire took hold between Israel and Hamas. For the anti-Israel movement, this should have been a moment of celebration and relief. Instead, hatred has persisted and even intensified. Jewish communities worldwide are experiencing
record-breaking levels of antisemitic incidents. The reality is clear — for many who claimed their goal was a ceasefire, that was never the actual goal. The delegitimization and destruction of Israel was.

ONLINE EVENT: Behind the Screen: Youth Radicalization, Online Risks, and Solutions: Youth increasingly encounter extremist ideologies in the digital spaces where they socialize and grow. As platforms evolve, so do the tactics used to recruit and isolate young people. In this
online event on November 12, we’ll explore the online footprints of two recent school shooters — how extremist narratives take root, how platforms are exploited and what these trends mean for families, schools and communities. Then we’ll share strategies to identify early warning signs and build safe, honest conversations with youth at home and in classrooms. You’ll leave with practical tools to recognize risk, engage youth with empathy and take action.

Helping Jewish Students Push Back Worldwide: “Students tell us they do not feel that their peers on campus are acting as allies to them as Jews,” says Dalia Grinfeld, ADL Associate Director of European Affairs. ADL’s
“Words to Action” program — which teaches students the history and current manifestations of antisemitism and provides practical tools to respond —is a big help. Some 4,500 students in 25 countries have participated in the one-day seminar since it was launched in 2022. “For many, this is the first time in their lives they experience what it is like to actually speak out and stand up for themselves as a Jew.” Grinfeld says.
