Dear friend,
We live in a moment for hope. It is a dangerous moment marked by monumental social, political, and economic inequality. Billionaires get tax breaks while the unhoused are criminalized. Federal forces occupy our streets in the name of national security. Christian nationalism steers much of our national moral direction. And yet, we hope.
This radical hope comes from all over. Our hope is sparked by the millions of people across the country eager to mobilize and agitate to oppose the current administration’s authoritarianism. This hope is stoked by the students organizing for their own survival. And, it is sustained by the deep ritual and cultural traditions that bore us.

** Reflections: No Kings II
------------------------------------------------------------
Last Saturday, more than 7 million Americans took to the streets to declare that this nation recognizes No Kings. Through nearly 3,000 events worldwide, people came together in uncertainty and resolve, in fear and joy, in hope and dismay to reject authoritarianism at home and abroad. Mobilizations, alone, cannot beat protect us, our neighbors, and our democracy. But, they are crucial as manifestations of solidarity and culture.

“Culture has a way of taking the intangible and making it tangible. As artists, we have the power to illustrate the divine, to illustrate liberation, because God is love.”
