Hi John,

I’m excited to introduce the first edition of the Repro Roundup – a new monthly snapshot from NIRH designed to help you stay grounded in what’s real and inspired by what’s possible.

In a time when reproductive freedom is being shaped more than ever by state and local legislation and policy decisions, staying informed isn’t just helpful – it's essential. While the news cycle can be overwhelming, NIRH is here to cut through the noise and focus on what matters most: truth with hope, action with joy, and community with heart.

The Repro Roundup will bring you things like:

- The latest in repro news, specifically the good news you might’ve missed (yes, it does exist 👏🏾).

- Spotlights of the incredible organizations we’re partnering with to fight for change 🧡.

- Pop culture moments that are shaping the conversation 🎤.

- Actions you can take, events you can attend, and other ways to plug in to the fight for reproductive freedom 🗳️.

And much more!

Whether you’re an advocate, a donor, or someone who just wants an easy way to stay up to date on what’s going on, this space is for you. Together, we’ll celebrate the wins, amplify the voices of those on the ground doing impactful work, and keep showing up in this fight – because our rights, our stories, and our futures matter.

Thank you for being part of our community.

In solidarity,

Christian LoBue

YOUR DONATIONS POWER OUR WORK

We are facing the most dangerous time for reproductive freedom in modern history. Attacks on our rights are coordinated, well-funded, and escalating. Your support fuels the policy innovation and state-level leadership that keep reproductive freedom advancing even in the toughest environments.

NIRH PARTNERSHIPS SPOTLIGHT:

Anti-abortion forces are escalating their attacks on reproductive freedom—but NIRH is meeting this moment with strategy and partnership. For more than 20 years, we’ve equipped state and local advocates with the tools to lead bold policy change. Our new Policy Labs build on that legacy, helping partners co-create and test proactive solutions—from public funding for abortion care to birth justice and data privacy.

Keep an eye on future editions for updates on each of our dedicated partners whose missions are deeply rooted in communities most impacted by escalating threats, bringing both lived experience and values-aligned policy expertise to fight for reproductive freedom.

ICYMI

Midwives in Vermont said “not on our watch”: A group of midwives have banded together to ensure that the closure of a critical birthing center in Central Vermont won’t create a gap in care. [[link removed]]

Big win for Birth Justice in Hawai'i: Advocates in Hawai'i are celebrating a significant victory that reverses laws that threatened traditional birthing practices and severely limited access to midwifery care across the islands. [[link removed]]

Missouri appeals court rules AGAINST the attorney general: A judge in Missouri actually shut down antis (yes, you read that right): The Western District Court of Appeals rejected a request by the attorney general’s office to reinstate several restrictions on abortion.  [[link removed]]

Trump plays politics in spite of science: From unfounded claims about Tylenol to doing ANOTHER “study” on Mifepristone because apparently the 100+ before are lying, this administration continues to ignore science at the expense of people’s health. (PS: someone share the Repro Roundup with RFK Jr., he could learn a thing or two). [[link removed]]

POPCULTURE 🤝 REPO

Who doesn’t love a show written by Shonda Rhimes? Not only does she excel at keeping us entertained, but she knows how to tell an impactful story, and that includes showcasing the experience of abortion. Rhimes used her shows to depict abortion in ways Hollywood hadn't before. This is why WHO is telling the story and HOW is so important.

Check out what Rhimes had to say about the complex road she went down to show her audiences that there is no one way to experience abortion. [[link removed]]
