With a population of fewer than 22,000 people, Morgan County, Georgia, is a place national groups overlook. But with a $200 monthly grant from Contest Every Race, the Morgan County Democrats are proving it doesn’t take much to spark a big change.

This year, the Morgan County Chair, Jeanne DuFort, launched a training program that taught 25 volunteers to have real conversations with people they don’t agree with, building the skills to connect across differences when speaking with persuadable voters. The local Dems have also restarted monthly meetings, hosted statewide candidates, and turned out volunteers for events throughout their community.
