John – Republicans in Congress can stop the coming health insurance price hikes – if they have the spines to do it.

Millions who get their health insurance on the marketplace are set to lose out on the Affordable Care Act subsidies that have made costs more affordable for the middle class.

Instead of sitting down and doing the real work of governing, they're ready to strip vital healthcare funding that will dramatically raise the cost of healthcare coverage for millions of working people.

So, let me be blunt here: I am ready to pass a bipartisan budget to reopen the government, but I will not vote to let your healthcare premiums skyrocket next year.

That's the kind of backbone we need in Congress.

Republicans are making life harder and more expensive for all of us just to give billionaires and corporations tax breaks and special favors.

I refuse to ask Oregonians to tighten their belts and rethink their budgets to prepare for health insurance premiums to rise by 50% or more.
