Hi Friend,
Here’s a picture from a recent What's Up Wednesday in Anchorage where Alyse talked with people about a variety of concerns. Some of the issues we talked about relate to the current Alaska state budget crisis. Several folks at the What’s Up Wednesday session asked how the state budget cuts affect federal funding. Alyse shared her dismay that the cut of $8 million to the Medicaid dental program will lead to the loss of $18.2 million in federal funding for this program. Alaskans are suffering needlessly. We also discussed support for military families, Arctic research, and the struggles of the University of Alaska system.

We spent time visiting farmers' markets and farms in Midtown, South Anchorage, and the Mat-Su Valley. We had thoughtful conversations about food security, climate change, research, and local agriculture.

Being able to meet with Alaskans all around Alaska is important to us - not only does it help us get out Alyse’s message about bringing Alaskan values to Washington, but it allows us to hear your stories and gives us the ability to understand the issues that matter most to you on a personal level.
Interested in coming to or inviting others to the next What’s Up Wednesday? Keep an eye on our events page here!
See you at the next What’s Up Wednesday!
Team Alyse
