Dear John,
Itโs time to get Duluth Right to Repair across the finish line. Our Duluth Tenants members have been organizing all year: knocking thousands of doors, holding town hall meetings and rallies outside City Hall, delivering nearly 6,000 signatures, building relationships across identities and neighborhoods. Their message is clear: Duluthians deserve timely repairs. ๐บ
Duluth Right to Repair follows similar measures in other cities and states, such as in Boston or Oregon. It would allow tenants to pay for repairs in their rental unit and deduct it from their rent or get reimbursed if their landlord does not resolve or schedule requested repairs within 14 days. This is a common sense tool that ensures tenants get their repairs done in a timely manner. Duluthians are already turning out to the polls to vote YES on Question 1.
A win in Duluth is a win for all of us. Duluth Tenants are leading the way for tenant organizing in the Northland, and redefining what is possible for tenants across Minnesota. Our goal is to raise $5,000 this week, so we can send our mailer to 5,000 more people.
Itโs time to Feed the Wolf. Will you join us in getting Duluth Right to Repair across the finish line? ๐บ๐บ๐บ๐บ๐บ๐บ๐บ๐บ๐บ
When John, a Duluth renter, tried to request a repair, โit felt like I was screaming into the void.โ Duluthians have the chance to change that on November 4th.
Paz,
Amanda Otero (she/her)
