While President Trump was at an international gathering in Egypt earlier this month, a hot mic picked up Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto asking to meet with his son, Eric.

While it was unclear at first exactly what the world leaders were discussing, Eric Trump later appeared to confirm that they were discussing the Trump Organization’s developments in Indonesia.

John, Trump should not be using the presidency to arrange a meeting between a world leader and his son, who runs the family business that the president actively profits from.

This apparent self-dealing is exactly the kind of conflict of interest CREW has been warning about for years, which is why we’re working to expose this corruption. Our team at CREW is working to hold Trump and his family accountable, shine a light on Trump’s profiteering and defend transparency in government. If that’s a mission you believe in, we’d appreciate your support to help us keep up this work → [[link removed]]

CREW spent Trump’s first term rigorously tracking his conflicts of interest, ultimately tallying nearly 4,000 conflicts between his presidency and his business interests.

One of the most egregious of those conflicts was the $14 million Trump made from his business interests in Indonesia from 2015 to 2019.

The conflicts of interest have only intensified in President Trump’s second term, with two properties in Indonesia still under development.

In fact, the government of Indonesia earlier this year ordered a development firm partnered with Trump to stop work on a project that will include Trump-branded elements because of environmental issues.

The development was previously granted a special tax status by the Indonesian government shortly after Trump’s first term—a move that would likely financially benefit Trump.

Now, with Eric Trump confirming that the president of Indonesia and Trump were discussing the Trump family business at a gathering of world leaders, the corruption is even more brazen.

Let’s be clear, John: the president should not be using the presidency to support a business he owns and still profits from them. This should go without saying.

Just like we did during his first term, CREW is continuing to track Trump’s unprecedented corruption and expose his profiteering —and we need your support to keep up our efforts.
