SIGN NOW: Congress must investigate the companies funding Trump’s ballroom – and what they want in return >>
John, the White House belongs to the American people – not its temporary resident.
But Trump is tearing it down anyway. He’s rushing through a $300 million demolition of the East Wing to build his vanity ballroom [1], all without the public approvals or transparency required for federal property. [2]
And his excuse? That taxpayers aren’t footing the bill – it’s being funded by megadonors and giant companies like Lockheed Martin, Coinbase, and Amazon. [3] But that’s way worse!
John, funding a project this massive and gaudy doesn’t come with no strings attached. They aren’t doing this out of the goodness of their hearts... they're expecting something in return.
And the people footing the real cost will be us – everyday Americans – through more tax breaks for billionaires, deregulation for corporations, and cuts to the programs we rely on.
SIGN THE PETITION: This ballroom is a shiny, golden invitation for massive corruption. The relevant committees in Congress must investigate and shine a light on who is funding it – and what they want in return >>
The business math adds up for the defense contractors, cryptocurrency giants, and Big Tech companies backing this project.
Donate a few million dollars to help Trump build a posh ballroom, and potentially make billions of dollars back through government contracts, dodging regulations, and favorable treatment.
But it doesn't add up for the rest of us. While billionaires get richer, our schools, healthcare, and public services will get left behind.
This is another glaring breach of ethics from the Trump administration – another attempt to turn public office into a private ATM for himself, his donors, and his corporate friends.
And it raises serious legal questions as to whether the White House can accept gifts from private donors or do a major project like this during a government shutdown. [4]
Trump could seek funding and approval for his new ballroom through the proper channels. But until he does, let's call this what it is: vandalism, plus an invitation to corruption.
Act Now: Urge Congress to uncover the truth behind this ballroom and the influence its corporate backers are trying to buy in the Trump Administration.
John, we deserve honesty, transparency, and a president who treats the White House like a symbol of democracy – not a playground for wealthy donors.
Thanks for all you do,
The team at Common Cause
