EPA Must Protect America’s Waterways From Toxic Coal Pollution!

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently proposed delaying the deadline for coal plants to reduce toxic pollution in their wastewater by five years. This unnecessary and dangerous giveaway to corporate polluters would cause irrevocable harm to public health, waterways, and aquatic ecosystems where fish, frogs, turtles, and countless unseen species make their homes.

Will you join us in urging EPA to protect communities and waterways in the U.S. from coal-fired power plant pollution? ([link removed])

Coal plants have already been given plenty of time to meet these standards. There is no need to delay these protections and give them more time to keep polluting.

Instead, EPA must:
* implement the Steam Electric toxic wastewater compliance deadlines without delay;
* protect the 30 million people who rely on drinking water sources likely to be contaminated with coal plant wastewater;
* uphold its mission to protect public health and the environment and its obligation to properly implement the law; and
* protect the communities, especially environmental justice communities, who live near these plants and have already suffered far more from toxic water pollution.

It’s time for EPA to quit stalling. It’s time for EPA to protect everyone in America and their waterways, not just corporate polluters.
