Ending a Government Shutdown

Over one month ago, House Republicans passed a clean continuing resolution that would allow the government to function as Congress finishes up the appropriations process. House Republicans did our job, passing a completely non-partisan bill that extends government funding at current levels.

Unfortunately, Washington Democrats have rejected the CR, demanding $1.5 trillion in new spending for a partisan wish list that includes free health care for illegal immigrants.

Every day that the government remains shut down is another day that hardworking Americans are left paying the price for Democrats' dysfunction. Kansans deserve leaders who are serious about fiscal responsibility and committed to doing the work they were elected to do.

My offices in DC, Manhattan, and Dodge City remain open and ready to assist while Democrats decide whether to come to the table and reopen the government.

Opening Animal Science Facilities

I attended the ribbon-cutting for the new Bilbrey Family Event Center at my alma mater, Kansas State University. As a proud graduate of K-State, it was great to be back on campus to celebrate a facility that will serve as a hub for animal sciences, agricultural education, and the future of the livestock industry in Kansas and beyond.

I had the chance to visit with university leaders, industry partners, and Kansas FFA officers about the opportunities this center will create for students and stakeholders across the state. The Bilbrey Family Event Center represents the very best of what K-State stands for—innovation, leadership, and a commitment to agriculture.
