John,
My name is Reverend Matt Schultz, and I’m running to represent Alaska in the House of Representatives.
For more than twenty years, I’ve served my community as a pastor — walking alongside my neighbors through joy and grief, baptisms and funerals, struggle and renewal. My ministry has always been about two things: serving my community and helping those in need.
Now, I’m stepping forward to serve in a new way because too many Alaskans are being left behind by the very government meant to help them.
Can you split a donation between my campaign and Democratic Values to help launch our campaign strong? [[link removed]]
I decided to run after seeing D.C. politicians — including our own Representative — celebrate a bill that slashed healthcare and food assistance, further burdening working families already struggling to get by.
He celebrated it. He called it “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
I call it out of touch. I call it an attack on our neighbors. I call it just plain cruel.
I’ve sat at kitchen tables where families face impossible choices: the hospital bill or the heating bill; gas to get to work, or groceries to feed the kids.
I’ve seen the strength of Alaskans who keep showing up for one another anyway — even when the system doesn’t.
People who’ve done everything right are still one surprise away from falling behind. And our government shouldn’t be making life harder — yet, too often, that’s exactly what it feels like.
As an Alaskan, I know the rising cost of living and a broken healthcare system are pushing too many people to make impossible choices. I’ll work to lower costs, raise wages, make sure every single Alaskan can access affordable, reliable healthcare, and build an economy that honors both hard work and Alaska’s natural beauty.
As an ordained minister and person of faith, I refuse to let extremists twist religion into a weapon against our most vulnerable neighbors. My faith calls me to affirm every person’s dignity and act as a bridge builder.
This campaign is about proving that courage, compassion, and truth still have a place in public life and our government.
But I can’t do it alone. We’re starting from the ground up, and we need the early resources to get our message out across our vast state.
If we want to win this race, we have to start strong. So, please, split a donation between my campaign and Democratic Values to help us launch our campaign, and let’s get to work. [[link removed]]
