Patient stories from Tennessee and Mississippi show how Medicaid remains a lifeline for families—and why protecting access to care is urgent.

Hello,

Have you seen the latest stories in the Tennessee Lookout and Mississippi Today? Both highlight the importance of access to critical care and the danger of cuts to patient care. In the Tennessee Lookout, Ashley Bell Seibers, a patient who relied on TennCare during thyroid cancer as a child, explains:

“Today, TennCare is just as essential to my son’s life as it was to mine. He lives with intellectual and developmental disabilities and has relied on a Medicaid waiver his entire life. Now, as an adult, TennCare provides him with the support he needs to live independently.”

In Mississippi Today, former pediatrician Dr. John Gadeut warns of the disproportionate effect cuts would have on rural areas:

“Medicaid plays an outsized role in states like Mississippi where 60% of its recipients live in a rural area.”

Protecting access to care is critical. Have cuts to care affected you? If you have a story like these, please share it with us.
