THANK YOU! You showed up to share your overwhelming opposition to this proposal at the State Board of Education meeting on October 14, 2025!
Close to 70 people flooded the room to oppose the adoption of these proposed Education Health Standards. Just over 40 people gave comments and 30 more waited for hours on the phone to comment.
Those who spoke in favor were predominantly teachers or administrators. This news source reports approximately 2,000 comments in 24 hours.
We were told they have not had that type of participation from citizens in 9 years. Your voice definitely made an impact!
A big thank you to Tom McMillin and Nikki Snyder, Republican members on the board, who brought forth a resolution to reject these standards. Besides being wrong for our children they appear to NOT pass constitutional muster (see Mahmoud v. Taylor). Disappointingly, it did not pass.
We must keep the pressure up. The outcomes to these changed policies could have devastating impact on our children. Do not despair if you're accused of misinformation -- the OPPOSITE is true. Stay strong--YOU know what's best for your children.
We are EXPECTING the vote may come at the next board meeting on Thursday, November 13 - but we are not sure. Make sure you sign up through our Landing page and we will keep you informed.
The Board needs to continue to hear from citizens all over Michigan.
