Team,

This email is longer than usual, but we wanted to update you on what’s happening with redistricting in Ohio.

Bottom line: Ohio Democrats are fighting for a fair constitutional map that gives every Ohioan a voice in their government. Meanwhile, Republicans are fighting to stay in power while ignoring how Ohioans actually voted.

If that’s all you need to hear, chip in $5 or any amount to power our organizing across the state and help get the word out about the GOP power grab → [link removed]

Otherwise, keep reading ⬇️

The Big Picture: Across the country, Republican state legislators are bowing to Trump’s orders to rig congressional maps in time for the 2026 midterm elections. Texas and Missouri have already drawn new skewed maps. Ohio is next.

Last Month: To kick off the process, Ohio Republicans held a series of hearings over the past month, which are required by law, to debate a proposed map… but they didn’t present a map! [[link removed]] Instead, they criticized Democrats over our proposed map, and then they missed their first deadline to come to a decision.

This Week: Now, the process moves to the Ohio Redistricting Commission [[link removed]] , which is made up of eight Republicans and two Democrats. The law requires members of both parties to approve a map. But with only a few weeks left before the next legal deadline, Republicans are saying they don’t have a map ready to present!

What’s Next: If the Commission doesn’t approve a map, the process moves to the General Assembly, where Republicans control 67% of seats. The GOP's goal is to delay this process as long as possible [[link removed]] and then quickly introduce and pass a map while leaving Ohioans in the dark.

What We Can Do: While Republicans dominate the General Assembly, they don’t have enough votes to pass a map with an “emergency clause,” which would cause the map to take effect immediately. They have to wait 90 days, during which Ohioans can gather signatures for a referendum to block the map.

We’re furious about Republicans rigging our maps – but these gimmicks also show how weak and desperate they are. They know their Big, Ugly Bill is unpopular, and new polling shows [[link removed]] that Ohioans disapprove of Trump by a 10-point margin.

The only way for them to win in 2026 is to cheat in 2025.

Ohio Democrats are using every tool available to push back against this power grab. We’re also running candidates up and down the ballot, from Sherrod Brown for Senate to local offices in all 88 counties.

Please, help us fight back. Chip in $5 or any amount to fuel our organizing against the GOP map-rigging and political theater that Ohioans are sick of. Remember, every single dollar counts as we gear up for this fight. Donate now → [link removed]

Thank you for everything. We’ll continue to keep you posted.
