🚨North Carolina just passed a new, extreme, gerrymandered map. We’re fighting back. 🚨

Just hours ago, North Carolina’s legislature forced through an extremely gerrymandered map — making it the latest state to rush through a mid-decade redraw, a pure power grab for politicians in D.C.

It was not so long ago that North Carolina’s congressional seats fell along a 50-50 partisan split. But lawmakers passed a gerrymander in 2023, and changed the delegation to a 10-4 split favoring Republicans.

This new map would widen the partisan divide of its representation in Congress even further, in a highly competitive 50-50 state. It also dismantles a district where voters of color have historically had an opportunity to express their political desires.

Our work has never been more vital. All On The Line is organizing to push back against these power grabs. We’re fighting to send a message to states like North Carolina — and any other state considering a similar power grab — that voters will hold them accountable.

Here’s what Attorney General Eric Holder had to say: “[T]he Tar Heel state is a purple, 50-50 state, but the state’s congressional and state legislative maps are decidedly not.

This additional gerrymander goes even further and denies Black voters equal representation, dismantling — with surgical precision — a district where they have long had the opportunity to express their political desires. It is morally reprehensible and legally indefensible — and it will be challenged in court.”

The bottom line is: Politicians are abusing their power to take away voters’ voices. That’s wrong, and it’s up to people like us to put a stop to it.
