Weekly Poll
I ask. You answer.
As we enter the fourth full week of the government shutdown driven by Senate Democrats, I want to remind everyone that House Republicans have acted responsibly to keep the government open. Unfortunately, Senator Schumer is still choosing to hold government funding hostage.
Senate Democrats have voted 12 times to keep the government closed over an expiring COVID-era policy. The Affordable Care Act subsidies set to expire in December are a leftover provision from a COVID-era policy meant for the most vulnerable. However, in reality, Americans far beyond poverty are having their health plans subsidized by the federal government, costing taxpayers billions. Now, progressives are asking to extend these subsidies at the cost of $500 billion to reopen the government. This is an unserious request and should not be attached to the question of reopening the federal government. As a member of the Committee on Appropriations, I am willing to work with my colleagues once the government is reopened. However, any proposal must be budget-neutral and avoid adding billions more to our national debt.
Discussing the Government Shutdown
I am making sure that people know where I stand on the government shutdown. I have spoken with local news outlets, radio stations, and podcasters about the importance of keeping the government open to ensure we can continue passing our appropriations bills. Tune in to my interviews here:

House Republicans Acted to Keep the Government Open
House Republicans did our job — passing responsible funding bills and a clean stopgap to keep the government open. Senate Democrats are refusing to act, keeping government closed, and demanding over a trillion dollars in new spending. Their actions are inflicting real consequences on families, workers, and communities across the country. It’s time they put their political shutdown aside and do the responsible thing: reopen the government, pay our troops, and pay our federal law enforcement officers.

Poll Results from Last Week
Last week, I asked if you support President Trump’s efforts to pay our troops during the Democrats’ shutdown and 93% of you said yes. Be sure to follow me on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and X to stay up-to-date on my work serving you.
