GOP Rep. Nick Begich in Alaska’s At-Large Congressional District
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some big news out of Alaska:
Progressives recently pulled off a shocking upset in Fairbanks, Alaska,
with a Democrat defeating the incumbent Republican mayor and progressive
candidates winning nearly every contested local race on the ballot.
Fairbanks voted for Trump twice—the kind of place pundits write off as
unwinnable for Democrats. But this victory proves that Democrats can make
inroads even in areas considered Republican strongholds.
We saw the same dynamic play out statewide in 2022, when Alaska elected a
Democrat to its only U.S. House seat for the first time in nearly 50
years. Alaska’s ranked-choice voting system levels the playing field. By
ranking candidates instead of picking just one, more voters help decide
the outcome of a race—and it gives Democrats a shot to flip this seat.
That’s why Alaska’s At-Large Congressional District is one of the 22 swing
districts Swing Left is targeting ahead of next year’s midterms. The fight
to flip the House for Democrats could come down to close races like this
one—and we need your help to win them.

Our fight to flip this seat won’t be easy, but make no mistake: Alaska’s
At-Large seat is winnable for Democrats. GOP Rep. Nick Begich barely won
by fewer than 8,000 votes in the last election, and a Democrat won the
seat in 2022. And since taking office, Nick Begich’s record has turned
toxic:
* He voted to gut Planned Parenthood funding, threatening two key health
centers and care that 1 in 3 Alaskans rely on.
* He broke his promise to protect Social Security by backing a bill
Trump’s Treasury Secretary called a “backdoor for privatizing Social
Security”—putting benefits for 100,000 Alaskans at risk.
* He voted to slash Medicaid and called it a “transformative victory.”
* He supports Trump’s tariffs, reducing revenue from Alaska’s oil and
mining industries and costing the Alaska Permanent Fund billions—the
program that funds annual stimulus checks that Alaskans rely on to
make ends meet.
Republicans know Nick Begich is vulnerable—and they’re already breaking
fundraising records in Alaska to protect him. That’s why your early
support is so critical in close races like this one.
Control of the House will likely come down to just a few seats, and
districts like this one could decide whether Democrats are able to flip
the House and put a real legislative check on Donald Trump and the MAGA
agenda.

Early funding and organizing win races like this one. Alaska’s primaries
aren’t until August 2026, leaving the eventual Democratic nominee with
less than three months to shift focus from the primary and take on Nick
Begich.
By donating now, you’ll help ensure the eventual Democratic nominees in
swing districts like this one get a much-needed infusion of cash as soon
as their primaries are over—allowing them to hit the ground running on day
one.
This strategy has helped flip tough seats before, and with your support,
we can do it again.
So thank you for everything you do.
