John,
This weekend was an incredible moment for the resistance. On Saturday, millions turned out for No Kings protests all over the country.
Together, we made it clear that we will not remain silent while Donald Trump intensifies his authoritarian crackdown with violent ICE raids and National Guard deployments.
Pramila spoke to the No Kings protesters in Seattle
Our Resistance is growing! Now, we need to make it our everyday work. That’s why I started Resistance Labs—to help our growing movement understand how to best fight authoritarians and take action right in your community.
That’s why I was THRILLED that on Sunday, more than 1,000 people from 41 states and 4 countries took the energy of No Kings Day and turned out for our 10th Resistance Lab training, this one focused on immigration justice.
Resistance Lab is all about taking your anger, frustration and energy and turning it into effective, nonviolent action. We consulted with the top experts from around the world on how democracies crumble and what people can do about it.
In just five months, we have trained more than 17,000 people from all 50 states and over half a dozen countries.
Sunday’s session was amazing! We focused specifically on immigration, how Trump is using our own military and supercharging ICE to terrorize our communities and conduct mass deportations of people—just for how they look, what language they speak or what street corner they hang out on. And if they can do this to immigrants—including US citizens—they can do it to anyone. Resistance Lab helps people understand what is going on, how to nonviolently fight back, and how to build the momentum we need to resist Trump’s unconstitutional and illegal actions.
Truly, this is the most inspiring and hopeful work I have been involved in—building people’s power in this crucial moment. And, John, we need to keep it up!
I fund all of this organizing through my campaign. I’m one of very few members of Congress who actually uses the campaign to build the people’s power through this kind of grassroots organizing. I do it because I believe this is the real answer. To keep up this Resistance Labs work, I really need your help. Every donation you make goes straight to Resistance Labs.
This weekend proves what we can accomplish when we come together. If we keep it up, we can defend our democracy and finally build a government that works for all of us.
In solidarity,
Pramila Jayapal
