These are local heroes—a scientist, a nurse, a small business owner, even the first Black mayor of his city—running to deliver real change in their communities.

But they’re up against Republicans who have turned their backs on working families, and time is running out to give these candidates the grassroots push to win.

These races aren’t making national headlines, but they couldn’t matter more.

In Mississippi, Johnny DuPree, Justin Crosby, and Theresa Gillespie Isom are running under new, fairer maps after courts ruled the state’s maps violated the Voting Rights Act by diluting Black voting strength. A win here could finally break the GOP supermajority in the state Senate.

In Minnesota, electing Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger will protect the Senate majority and stop Republicans from seizing the power to block progress on clean energy, reproductive rights, healthcare, and education.
