Our federal government remains shut down, and Americans are paying the price. I am committed to getting the government open and working for the people by collaborating with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle.

Since January 20, the Trump administration has consistently attempted to dismantle the federal government and its ability to serve the American people:

* Even though Congress passed and the President signed an insufficient, short-term spending bill, the Trump administration has illegally withheld funds and services.
* Without Congressional approval and in spite of court rulings, they have used DOGE and OMB Director Russ Voght — architect of Project 2025 — to dismantle federal departments, including those that take care of our veterans, oversee air travel, and ensure food safety.
* Republicans’ “Big Ugly Bill” slashed Medicaid and Medicare and cut tax credits for Affordable Care Act premiums — all to give permanent tax breaks to billionaires.

It is hypocritical for Republican leaders to say they want the government open when they’ve spent months tearing it apart. It is unreasonable for them to expect us to trust and agree to any funding bill, given that they have repeatedly broken promises and caved to the President’s demands.

I stand with the people of Georgia — and with Americans everywhere — who rely on affordable, accessible health care and a government that actually works for them. That’s why I’m calling on Congressional Republicans to come to the negotiating table now and pass a funding bill to reopen the government and protect access to health care.
