When notorious MAGA fraudster and former New York Congressman George Santos was initially convicted it was a hilarious time to be on the internet.
Twitter users quote tweeted news stories on his conviction with captions like, “DIVA DOWN” and the ironic hashtag #FreeGeorgeSantos that mocked him as if he were some sort of imprisoned folk hero.
Gen Z memelords even came up with the irony laden “Free George Santos School Walkout,” a fictional school walkout that would occur across the nation to show how outraged the youth was over the conviction of this “political prisoner.”
You’d think that Lauren Boebert would have distanced herself from Santos like the rest of her GOP Hill Colleagues, especially considering the fact that he embezzled from MAGA donors, at points stealing these donors credit cards/identities as well as calling donors for campaign contributions only for their money to be sent to his account.
But Lauren Boebert, who herself has been caught up in numerous scandals involving campaign embezzlement and wrongful use of campaign funds, developed an unbreakable bond with Santos, going so far as to use her position in Congress to lobby for Santos’ release.
Last week Boebert’s efforts paid off. Santos was granted clemency by President Trump. She celebrated with a post taking credit for his release and retweeting the “DIVA DOWN” meme.
Having made it abundantly clear that she condones what Santos did to his donors and that she is in fact guilty of it too, even Boebert’s most depraved ultra-MAGA donors are rapidly jumping ship. This past quarter she raised an abysmal $110,000 dollars.
She is so radioactive and desperatefor money that even after one of her top funders was caught running a vicious Ponzi scheme, Boebert ignored calls by Georgia’s GOP Attorney General to return the money she received to the victims and the money is still sitting in her campaign bank account.
When Boebert and her Democratic opponent, Trisha Calvarese, a labor leader and relentless fighter for working Coloradans, went head to head, Trisha had the best performance a Democrat has ever had in this district. Boebert on the other hand underperformed Trump in every county.
Boebert is beyond vulnerable (remember she only won her reelection in 2022 by 546 votes) and if there was ever a time to knock her campaign down and fire her, it is now.
