[<[link removed] Policy Alliance>] Courts, Classrooms, and Clinics: The Battle for Our Children Continues [<[link removed]>] Dear John, This week brings fresh challenges in the fight for children and families, ranging from the West Coast to the East Coast, addressing parental rights and transgender procedures for children. Yet our conviction remains firm: Parents have the right and responsibility to direct their childrenâs upbringing, children deserve protection, and families must be honored and supported. California Gov. Newsom Signs "Kidnap Billâ California Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed AB 495, a bill allowing virtually any adult to pose as a childâs guardian to facilitate medical or mental-health procedures, including gender transition and abortion, without parental consent. Family advocates, including FPA and our friends at the California Family Council, [warn <[link removed]>] that the law destroys safeguards for families and endangers minors by cutting parents out of critical health decisions. We addressed this concerning issue in our recent House to Home podcast with Jonathan Keller, President of California Family Council. [Watch the full episode here <[link removed]>] . Newsom also [signed <[link removed]>] into law AB 727, which requires schools issuing student ID cards to print the contact information for the radical transgender activist organization The Trevor Projectâs suicide hotline. The bill raises serious safety concerns because The Trevor Project directs teens into the online community TrevorSpaceâa chat platform where unverified adults may interact with minors in unsupervised settings. It also turns every student in California into an LGBT activist by forcing them to carry advocacy materials for a radical activist group on their official student ID card, with no religious exceptions. We oppose this measure because it marginalizes parental involvement, sends students into unsupervised environments, and violates the First Amendment free speech and religious liberty rights of children and parents. The decision follows new policies by the Health Resources & Services Administration discouraging âgender-affirmingâ interventions for minors and President Trumpâs signing of an Executive Order adopting Family Policy Allianceâs [Help Not Harm strateg <[link removed]>] y. At least 21 gender clinics have stopped or restricted gender transition procedures for children in 2025, including Los Angeles Childrenâs Hospital and the University of Chicago Medical Center. children and parents. Children struggling with who God made them are vulnerable
