John,
In the heat of our battle with Ken Paxton—at a time when he was asking a court to freeze our assets, imprison me, and shut down Powered by People—Texas Blue Action stepped up to support us in a big way.
While we were tied up in costly legal fights, this proven Texas nonprofit worked with our volunteers to ensure our successful voter registration program could continue running uninterrupted. They hired additional staff to manage the new workload, and they did this at the same time that they were running their own statewide relational organizing program that will help Democrats win elections up and down the ballot.
Now that Powered by People has had our right to free speech and political action vindicated by an all Abbott-appointed Texas appeals court who ruled against Paxton, we want to thank Texas Blue Action for doing the right thing. At a time when too many Democratic organizations see themselves in zero-sum competition, Texas Blue Action proved that working together can produce something greater than the sum of our parts.
I hope you will consider splitting a donation between them and Powered by People today.
We are lucky that Texans who cherish the Constitution, the rule of law, and our democracy are finding ways to work together, support one another, and stay focused on the goal: winning political power, saving our republic, and delivering for the people.
Thank you, Texas Blue Action for leading by example and thanks to all who support this important work by splitting a donation between them and Powered by People.
