PFAW Member, Since the launch of the #StopHateforProfit campaign at the beginning of the month, over 10,000 PFAW members like you have signed our petition calling on Facebook to remove the unchecked lies and hate that run wild on its platform. When Mark Zuckerberg and other Facebook executives met this week with #StopHateForProfit advocates, they offered no clear plan nor indicated any intention of even attempting to curb the rampant misinformation and vitriolic hate that thrive unchecked on the social media platform. Serving an audience of billions around the world, Facebook's inaction is a tacit endorsement of the hate, fear, and misinformation perpetuated by bad actors who use the site as their digital soapbox. We cannot sit by while they prioritize the company’s profits over the well-being of the people harmed by their policies. Tell Facebook that their acceptance of bigotry and misinformation on their site is unacceptable. >> PFAW has joined leading civil rights advocates in urging other organizations and companies to pull their ads from Facebook during the month of July and calling on Facebook to rein in false content that promotes hate, spreads disinformation, and undermines our democracy. We’ve witnessed how the unregulated lies and hatred on Facebook’s widely consumed site negatively impacted voters in both the 2016 and 2018 elections and have been a constant source of confusion as we all seek to safely navigate the coronavirus pandemic. We can’t let Facebook’s negligence continue any longer – our democracy and peoples’ lives are at stake. Sign today to demand that Facebook take action! >> In solidarity, – Sarah, Digital Campaigns Associate
