The Ohio Redistricting Commission just met for the first time. After already missing one deadline, Republicans came unprepared and DID NOT propose a map.
Senate Minority Leader Nickie Antonio demanded that this process be open and transparent, reminding the Republicans that Democrats have already proposed a fair map that is representative of how Ohio votes.Instead, Republican Representative Brian Stewart said that "the GOP lawmakers have been talking about maps behind the scenes but not with Democrats." Republicans have admitted that they are drawing a partisan map without considering public input! This is not just unfair, but is unconstitutional.

We expect Republicans to kowtow to Trump at this point, and that means we have to keep all options on the table. If that means passing a referendum, that is something that our team is looking at closely. But any redistricting action is going to be very expensive. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is already committing to support our efforts, but we are going to be all hands on deck.

If you can chip in today, it will help us knock doors, collect signatures and make sure we're protecting our Ohio maps. If you just don't have money to give right now, that's totally fine too. Please sign up to volunteer with the Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus. Together, we can fight for fair maps, and we can win!
