Dear John,

Ten years ago, the world came together around a shared goal: that we could tackle climate change and build a better future at the same time. Achieving the Paris Agreement is about far more than cutting emissions. It is about securing the many benefits of climate action — cleaner air, safer communities and protecting the ecosystems that we all depend on.

A decade later, it’s time to take stock.

I am proud to unveil the State of Climate Action 2025 ( [link removed] ) , which provides a global report card on progress toward limiting warming to 1.5°C across key sectors, as well as a comprehensive roadmap for closing the gap in climate action.

What we found is deeply concerning. While most indicators are heading in the right direction, none are on track for 2030. Despite some pockets of progress, the world is falling far short of what’s needed to slash greenhouse gas emissions, scale up carbon removal and increase climate finance. The pace and scale of progress are alarmingly inadequate, exposing communities, economies and ecosystems to unacceptable risks.

Global Climate action is falling short ( [link removed] )

Keeping the Paris Agreement limit within reach demands accelerating transformational change across every sector. For example, to get on track for 2030, the world needs to:

* Increase total global climate finance *4x faster*
* Expand rapid transit networks, like light rail, metro and bus lanes, *5x faster*
* Lower beef and lamb consumption in high-consuming regions *5x faster*
* Reduce deforestation *9x faster*
* Phase out coal more than *10x faster*
* Scale technological carbon removal more than *10x faster*

Explore the findings in this summary article ( [link removed] ) and join a high-level launch event ( [link removed] ) on October 28th with climate leaders and experts. I hope you will share ( [link removed] ) the report’s findings with your networks and use it to galvanize action in the second half of this decisive decade.
