Two weeks left: Vote Yes and canvass for Prop 50!
There are less than two weeks left before the statewide special election for Prop 50. As we’ve explained previously with Prop 50 FAQs and with our deep dive on Prop 50, passing Prop 50 is one of the few ways we can push back against the authoritarian takeover of our country. We need everyone to vote Yes and to join our weekend canvassing which is in the Sunset district for the next (and final!) two weekends. Don’t miss your chance to help save our democracy!
SF is targeted for federal invasion. Get ready with us.
You may have heard that San Francisco is being targeted as the next city for mass ICE raids and National Guard deployment. We want to reiterate the mantra of immigrants-rights organizers:
Power, not panic.
We are ready, and we want you to get ready with us.
Sign up for Bay Resistance’s mass call on this issue TODAY at 6 PM.
Led by Bay Resistance, we are developing the following strategy.
The day of a federal invasion or mass ICE raids, we rally at Embarcadero Plaza in San Francisco at 5 PM.
The next day, we hold vigils at our local libraries to distribute safety materials and sign people up for trainings and neighborhood patrols.
You can prepare now.
Visit https://www.bayresistance.org/get-involved. Bay Resistance are the leaders on this initiative. Sign up for their email list, text alerts.
Locate your local library. Know how to get there for local vigils.
Email [email protected] if you’re ready to host events outside your local library. We can train you.
Sign up for our Rapid Response Signal hotline.
Watch our website for more information as it comes up. We need all hands on deck for this. We will send another email if things change.
In light of all this, Mayor Lurie has been suspiciously silent. He did not attend No Kings (although many of our officials including State Senator Scott Wiener and Speaker Pelosi were there), and he has offered very tepid dismissals of Trump’s statements about invading our city. Instead of sticking his head in the sand, Mayor Lurie should be coming up with a plan to protect San Franciscans.
Call Mayor Lurie and tell him: No troops on our streets!
And below is another way you can help protect our communities.
Jobs With Justice Small Business Pillar Campaign
The campaign to protect vulnerable workers across San Francisco from violent raids by federal agents and strengthen solidarity among merchant associations and chambers of commerce is gaining momentum — but it won’t continue without your help.
Researchers at the UC Merced Community and Labor Center found that during June 2025 alone, large-scale immigration raids in Los Angeles and other urban areas caused a 3.1% drop in statewide labor participation, meaning roughly 465,000 fewer Californians reported working that week. This wave of raids included dozens of operations across small businesses like carwashes, restaurants, and clothing shops, particularly in Los Angeles and Central Valley agricultural hubs. Other urban areas may soon follow, and San Francisco is a potential target.
San Francisco is home to approximately 7,000 storefront businesses and 35 Merchant Associations, and we need more people power to reach them all. Your participation can make a real difference.
Join a one-hour volunteer canvassing training to prepare for outreach in neighborhoods across SF. You’ll learn how to register small business owners for a free, confidential legal rights training — focused on what to do during federal agent raids, workplace protections and rights, and the legal responsibilities of business owners.
Please register for a one-hour volunteer training session. Sessions are offered:
Invite your family, friends, and networks to take part. Help connect Merchant Association members to the Jobs with Justice Solidarity Campaign — and build a movement to protect our communities. Please have your contacts email [email protected] to find out how they can help keep SF’s small business community safe and strong.

Thank you for an amazing No Kings day!
With more than 100,000 people on the streets, we really showed our power. Between 1-in-9 and 1-in-6 people in this city marched with us on Saturday.
If you were a volunteer at this event, thank you so much. You made it happen. You were one of the people on the ground fighting fascism with us, and we recognize your courage and commitment.
If you were an attendee, thank you so much! Your creativity, passion, and commitment to peaceful protest truly made No Kings shine.
We’re so proud of all of you and so proud of our city. Thank you again for putting your feet on the streets for democracy.

Update #3 on Government Shutdown
The partial shutdown of the federal government continues into its 22nd day with Congress still gridlocked over the Appropriations bills and a short-term Continuing Resolution (CR).
As explained in our "Hold Fast on the Trump Shutdown" newsletter article and Call to Action (CTA) from three weeks ago, the MAGA regime has been steadily shutting down the federal government ever since they took office so that they can slash health care and other domestic safety net programs to fund tax cuts for billionaires.
As stated by Pennsylvania state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta on X.
“Republican math.
Can afford: Trump ballroom, $40 Billion Argentina bailout, massive tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires.
Can’t afford: health care for Americans, SNAP for struggling Americans, tax relief for middle class families."
It is clear that Republicans are not interested in meeting the needs of ordinary Americans. But thankfully, Democrats are continuing to fight for restoration of trillions of dollars for health care and other safety net programs. Learn more about how and why the Democrats are holding strong on our blog and let’s continue to do everything we can to make the MAGA shutdown a public political problem that they have to address. Let’s continue to contact our representatives, speak up, and make noise in the public arena.
Support our friends at Indivisible Tri-Valley to Bring Miguel Home
Miguel Lopez, a long time resident and hard working member of the Tri-Valley community, was illegally abducted by ICE last May during a routine check-in, held at a detention center near Bakersfield, and then deported to Mexico in early June, where he remains today.
There is a hearing for Miguel coming up on Thursday, October 30 in San Francisco and we want to get a big group together to show support for Miguel, his wife Rosa, and their children. Bring friends, family, and signs to help us bring Miguel home.

Tell Airbnb they need to pay their taxes—and you won’t book there until they do!
Indivisible SF supports the Airbnb boycott. Until they stop their greed, we’re booking elsewhere. Sign on here.
San Franciscans want a city where all of us can thrive, and tax revenue from businesses located here are crucial to funding a budget that benefits all of us.
Yet the billionaires at Airbnb are aligned with Trump and MAGA, NOT with San Francisco values. Airbnb’s co-founder, Joe Gebbia, is working with DOGE to cut vital services to benefit the ultra-wealthy. Locally, Airbnb is suing the city, refusing to pay the $120 million in taxes they owe, leading to large cuts to services right here in San Francisco. Airbnb’s business model is fueling the housing crisis, using loopholes to take hundreds of units off the market, converting them to “boutique hotels” to avoid short-term rental regulations.
Indivisible SF has joined with a coalition of unions and community organizations calling for an economic boycott of Airbnb. Now, individuals can join the boycott. We’ll use our economic power to pressure Airbnb to stop their lawsuit and pay their taxes. Join us to create a flourishing future for all San Francisco residents.

Plastic bags are going away sooner than expected. Are you ready?
We previously informed you that plastic grocery bags would be going away at the end of this year, so now’s the time to stockpile reusable bags and get in the habit of using them.
A new settlement between California’s attorney general Rob Bonta and the plastic-bag manufacturers means that the end of plastic bags available in grocery stores will be arriving earlier than expected. The attorney general demanded evidence from the plastic-bag manufacturers that their bags were recyclable; instead, they chose to halt sales to California.
So, the end of plastic grocery bags in California is nigh. Therefore, now is the time to either start reusing them or buy cloth bags and use those.

And, by the way, if you want to represent Indvisible SF, we have ISF tote bags for sale on our Bonfire site! All proceeds go to funding our expenses.
RFK Jr. is destroying public health. It’s time to impeach him.
To win a spot in Donald Trump’s cabinet there are requirements. Being a billionaire helps. Undying loyalty to Trump, the ability to look past his lies, disregard for the Constitution and human life are essential. Being born into a storied political family steeped in glamor, tragedy, and at the forefront of pivotal moments in US history is also a plus. Who knows, some of that glitter might rub off? Inexperience and lack of subject-matter expertise are, oddly enough, not a problem. As we dig into this band of boot lickers and misfits, assembled by the convicted-felon-in-chief, there’s one that deserves special attention: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.—an ill-equipped loose cannon with no way to remain relevant but to throw himself at the feet of Donald Trump.
Call your Members of Congress to keep pushing for RFK, Jr.’s impeachment, and contact media outlets to continue reporting on his threats to public health.
