Friend,

Hate has no place in our communities, and everyone should know how to respond when it happens.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is leading efforts against hate through policy advocacy, litigation, public education and research — providing real solutions that will help promote safer spaces for all, thanks to supporters like you.

We know that hate strikes too often — and when it does, each of us has a role to play in ensuring an effective response.

Here is a quick guide we put together for SPLC supporters on what to do when hate impacts your community. ([link removed])

POWERFUL WAYS TO RESPOND TO HATE >> ([link removed])

The most recent FBI hate crime report documented near-record-high levels of hate violence in the U.S.

Despite severe underreporting of hate crimes by law enforcement agencies, the data still paints a bleak picture of where our country is headed if we don’t act now to address hate at its roots.

We designated October as Hate Crimes Awareness Month because for too long, hate has plagued our country — eroding democracy and violently targeting people of color, women, immigrants, LGBTQ+ communities, Jewish and Muslim Americans and Indigenous communities.

Hate violence doesn’t just affect the victims — it impacts entire communities. But when you stand with the SPLC, you help stop hate at its roots and build a people-powered movement rooted in safety, equity and justice.

Protecting yourself and your loved ones has never been more important. As a strong SPLC supporter, we invite you to explore these guides to help respond to the rising tide of hate.
