This Isn’t Justice

What to Know: Climate change alarmists are trying to jump aboard the Black Lives Matter movement to advance their agenda.

The TPPF Take: The movements are at cross-purposes.

“It’s disappointing how so-called advocates for equality have been exploiting this cultural moment to push government programs that actually worsen poverty, especially among communities of color,” says TPPF’s Richard Johnson. “Whether ignorantly or deliberately, ‘climate justice’ initiatives will make life harder for black people in the United States.”

Founding Fathers

What to Know: Our nation’s founders should be judged by the enduring power of their ideas—including one person, one vote.

The TPPF Take: At the birth of our Republic, we fought a war to gain sovereignty over the right to vote and determine our destiny as citizens.

“But even as we celebrated the 244th Fourth of July, we have found ourselves on the threshold of surrendering our rights anew, throwing away our right of self-determination by accepting unsecure elections,” says TPPF’s Quico Canseco. “The calls to accept mail-in ballots are growing louder, despite the many documented risks.”

Bigger Doesn’t Mean Better

What to Know: Some continue to argue that the COVID-19 pandemic is an urgent reason to expand Medicaid.

The TPPF Take: Coverage isn’t care, and expanding Medicaid would crowd out those who need care the most.

“The states hardest hit by the coronavirus are states that did expand Medicaid, including New York, New Jersey, Washington and California. Clearly, Medicaid expansion is no panacea for a pandemic,” says TPPF’s Elizabeth O’Connor. “Not expanding Medicaid has allowed Texas to save taxpayer money that would have gone into a program that is fraught with issues.”
