Multifamily Clean Vehicle Infrastructure Request for Proposals Now Open for Application
EV Charging at Apartment/Condo Complex
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has funding available under the *Clean Fuel and Charging Infrastructure Program. *Request for Proposals (RFPs) will be funded on a first come, first serve basis. The program is designed to expand Michigan’s growing electric vehicle (EV) charging network at multifamily complexes, increasing equitable access to charging solutions across the state.
This funding opportunity provides *$5 million* in funding to support the deployment of non-public Level 2 alternating current EV charging stations at multifamily housing properties, helping deliver convenient, reliable at-home charging for residents across Michigan.
Since the program’s launch, EGLE has awarded funding for *205 charging stations at 32 multifamily properties statewide*, totaling more than *$2.02 million in grant support*.
These investments are helping expand EV charging access for residents throughout Michigan, particularly in areas where at-home charging options have traditionally been limited.
Building on this success, EGLE has *expanded eligibility to include new multifamily housing developments*, in addition to existing properties, and broadened the applicant base to encourage participation from a more diverse range of property owners, developers, and organizations. These changes are designed to ensure EV-ready infrastructure is integrated into future housing projects from the ground up and to make program participation more accessible and inclusive.
Individual grant awards are capped at $300,000, and applicants must provide a minimum 30% match of the total requested funds if the project is located outside of an environmental justice community.
Applications will be accepted and processed on a first-come, first-served basis until funding is exhausted.
This RFP represents the multifamily housing component of the Clean Fuel and Charging Infrastructure Program. *EGLE expects to release an additional RFP focused on public charging in the coming months.*
