Friend, when an abuser has access to a firearm, domestic violence can turn deadly.

That's why the Supreme Court ruling in U.S. v. Rahimi in June 2024 was so critical.

In an 8-1 decision, the Court affirmed what survivors have always known: When someone is found by a court to be a threat, they can legally be disarmed. But while this ruling is a victory, it's not nearly enough.

In 2024 alone, Brady Background Checks blocked more than 4,000 gun sales to individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence crimes. That's thousands of potential tragedies prevented. But the gun lobby is still fighting to weaken these protections, putting countless survivors at risk.

Right now, Trump’s Department of Justice (DOJ) is moving forward on a measure that, if weakened, could allow convicted domestic abusers — as well as gun traffickers and even people with histories of violent hate crimes — to get their gun access restored. This move would put countless lives at risk and we cannot let the gun lobby win this time, friend.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I'm asking you to take action. Please, add your name to Brady's petition demanding Congress strengthen Brady Background Checks and ensure abusers can't get their hands on deadly weapons. Lives depend on it.
