This is a historic moment for action. There are trillions of euros of our money on the table and we want a say in where it goes. Take action:

Hi John,

This week the Chancellor Rishi Sunak presented a mini budget, that once again showed the UK government is more serious about protecting corporate profit than people.

As the effects of Covid-19 unfold, UK unemployment is set to reach 2 million, and more and more people are forced to choose between paying rent and buying food. The Chancellor had a chance to create millions of good, green jobs to help recover from Covid and prepare our homes, communities and economy for climate impacts. But he failed.

The government's plan doesn't match the scale of the crisis or support those who need it most. At the same time, the Bank of England is providing bailouts for polluting companies without conditions to secure workers' rights or exclude dirty fossil fuels from accessing public money.

As a global climate justice community, we can’t let our leaders, in the UK and elsewhere in the world, make these historic choices without hearing our voices calling for a global Just Recovery. It’s our money and our future - and we get to have a say.

Raise your voice by signing our global petition to demand that our public money is spent on securing our future.

In just a few days, the people who control the budgets of the G20 - the world’s 20 richest countries - will come together for their first meeting since the pandemic hit. The UK Treasury and Bank of England will be there. Everyone’s agenda: how to spend trillions of dollars on global economic recovery from Covid-19.

Our leaders could choose to set the world on a new path to recovery, and make a huge leap in the fight against climate breakdown. But the risk is that they listen to corporate lobbyists, and try to just take us back to business-as-usual. We can’t let that happen.

We don’t want business as usual - we want to build back better. We want the huge sums of public recovery money to help create decent jobs and pay a living wage to all workers, everywhere. We want investment in public services that benefit everyone: free healthcare, quality education, affordable housing, green liveable cities and clean air. We want money to massively fund renewable energy and clean transport, and to help communities at risk of climate impacts to adapt and grow more resilient.

Sign our global petition to add your voice, so our demand for a green and just recovery resonates with world leaders during their crucial meetings next week!

This petition is a start - add your name to hear about all the other ways you can get involved, and help get our messages across, as politicians gather next week to discuss pandemic recovery!
