President Donald Trump is deeply unpopular and wants to stack the deck in the GOP’s favor in the upcoming midterms to silence voices ready for change. The latest polls have his numbers underwater at just a 42% approval rating while 47% of Americans are not confident they can find a good job, and more than half of the country says they are stressed about paying for groceries.
But California is fighting back. This November, California voters will vote on Prop 50, Election Rigging Response Act. This would authorize California to temporarily adjust congressional districts in response to partisan gerrymandering in Texas and other GOP states. The fight for Congress is directly tied to the outcome of Prop 50 passing in California.
The Democratic Party of New Mexico is ready to step up to the plate and make sure Prop 50 gets passed. Join our DPNM volunteers as we call voters in California to make sure they go out and vote in support of the Election Rigging Response Act. You will be trained on how to connect with California voters on this issue and phonebanking. Elections are how we voice our dissatisfaction with the direction of the country, but Donald Trump wants to take that away. Instead of being accountable to the concerns of voters, he’s eroding democracy by ordering red states to draw districts to ensure the Republicans who refuse to hold him accountable keep control of Congress. |
