TELL CONGRESS: Trump has bombed six boats coming from Venezuela, taken two people prisoner, and, now, is escalating threats to start ground strikes. A bipartisan group of Senators is forcing a vote as early as next week to stop a full-blown war. Sign the petition: Urge Senators to prevent a ground war with Venezuela.

Last week, Trump launched airstrikes against a SIXTH boat from Venezuela that the White House claimed carried so-called “narco-terrorists.” And for the first time amidst these strikes, the Trump administration took two prisoners from the boat.1

Now, Trump is escalating threats to start a ground war, saying, “We are certainly looking at land now, because we’ve got the sea very well under control.”2 He’s even authorized the CIA to carry out lethal operations in Venezuela.3

Senators Adam Schiff, Tim Kaine, and Rand Paul are leading the charge to force a vote to block Trump from starting a full-blown ground war with Venezuela.4 The last vote to check Trump’s war powers came just three votes shy of passing.5 This critical vote could happen next week and we need more lawmakers in Congress behind it.

Sign the petition: Vote YES on urgent War Powers Resolution to prevent Trump from going to war with Venezuela!

The Washington Post spoke with over 20 current and former U.S. officials and experts that refute Trump’s claims that the boats he’s targeting for extrajudicial killings even carry drugs bound for the U.S. — countering the White House’s entire justification for these illegal strikes.6

The UN has made very clear that Trump’s boat bombings are not legal, saying, “International law does not allow governments to simply murder alleged drug traffickers.”7

Trump’s unauthorized strikes and the prospect of another prolonged, destabilizing war are fueling some Republican support behind this War Powers Resolution. But we need more members of Congress to stop Trump NOW!

Sign the petition: Urge your lawmakers in Congress to vote to prevent Trump from going to war with Venezuela.

Thanks for taking action,
