You’ve likely heard the expression, “It’s a marathon, not a sprint.” It’s a reminder about conserving and protecting your energy for the long haul, keeping a reserve for a continued fight. The work to increase access to abortion and advance reproductive justice is continued and ongoing.
But we would be remiss if we didn’t remind you to take time to also celebrate the victories. The Supreme Court’s ruling on June Medical last week was a win.
The Supreme Court upholding precedent and granting that abortion clinics in Louisiana are not required to comply with unreasonable, politically-motivated restrictions that barred patients from receiving care is a victory. But, we need to get back to work because upholding Roe is only the very beginning of what needs to happen to ensure everyone has access to abortion.
