The government has been shut down for 21 days, and Republicans like Elise Stefanik would rather keep it this way than work with Democrats to lower costs and protect benefits for millions.
Just take a look at the House committee calendar for this month:

Members of Congress still get paid during a government shutdown, but they’re not even showing up to work – and a whole lot of them aren’t even in D.C. working to end the shutdown and deliver for their communities.
Now, people will lose their healthcare, insurance premiums will rise, and families will lose SNAP benefits if the shutdown continues into next month.
This shouldn’t be political, it’s just common sense. That’s why I’m running for Congress to replace Elise Stefanik and actually fight for the North Country in Washington, but I need your help to get there. Will you chip in just $1 or whatever you can to my campaign today?
