I was proud to join thousands of Californians on Saturday at the No Kings rallies in the Santa Clarita and Antelope Valleys.

I was inspired by the many veterans, young people, and patriots who spent their day peacefully making their voices heard. They shared their concerns with me about the future of our democracy, healthcare affordability, and the economy.

There’s a lot of uncertainty right now. We’re entering the third week of the government shutdown, with no end in sight as Republicans refuse to come to the table.

Thousands of families stand to see their healthcare premiums skyrocket or even lose their healthcare entirely while Republicans prioritize their billionaire donors and appease the Trump White House. Thousands of federal workers and active military are working without pay.

While there’s a lot of work to be done, standing shoulder to shoulder with my concerned fellow citizens gave me hope – and the drive to continue to do right by CA-27.

I’m continuing to take a stand for our communities and our democracy in Congress. This fight is worth it, and we can’t stay silent.
