Folks — I was born and raised in Selma, Alabama — the heart of the Civil Rights Movement. I walk the same streets where heroes like John Lewis marched for justice and where generations before me demanded the right to vote. It isn’t just where I’m from. It’s why I fight.

Today, that fight continues. Just last week, the Supreme Court heard arguments that would take a wrecking ball to what remains of the Voting Rights Act after decades of right-wing judicial activism. The nation’s highest Court, dominated by right-wing politicians in robes, seems poised to eliminate the right of Black voters to elect candidates of their choosing.
