Hi John,
My name is Manuel Oliver, and my 17-year-old son Joaquin was murdered at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018.
The 30 under 30 project came to be because we know how important it is to turn pain into purpose. America’s deadliest epidemic is gun violence, and so many young people are stolen far too early. The 30 under 30 magazine is our way of honoring the promising young people in America whose lives were cut short by gun violence before they could finish their third decade.
My wife Patricia and I have always said Joaquin is more than a victim. He’s a voice. He’s a movement. For action. For justice. For every life still at risk.
I will never stop fighting for my son. I will never stop fighting for your kids. And I will never let this country forget who we lost or what we owe them.
