Pheasant in grass
Opening day is almost here
Ready to get in the field? Nebraska's pheasant and quail season opens this weekend on *Saturday, Oct. 25*, and expectations are high for a great upland season!
Recent field reports and surveys show positive numbers of pheasants across the state, and favorable weekend weather means an excellent chance to harvest birds. Here are a few resources to help your hunt be successful:
* *Upland Game Bird Hunting Outlook [ [link removed] ]*: Learn where bird numbers are up, and what to expect in the field, including weather conditions and habitat trends.
* *Stubble Access Guide [ [link removed].. ]*: Wheat and milo stubble left tall following harvest provides excellent cover and hunting opportunities for pheasants and other wildlife. Use this guide to find stubble and other adjacent habitats open to walk-in hunting across portions of western Nebraska.
* *Public Access Atlas [ [link removed].. ]*: With over 1.2 million acres of publicly accessible lands, Nebraska offers an abundance of walk-in hunting opportunities for upland game birds. Use the Atlas to find locations in your area.
As you make your plans, consider sharing your adventures with a new hunter — bird hunting is a great way to introduce novices to the sport you enjoy.
*Want an additional challenge? Pursue a Nebraska Upland Slam [ [link removed] ].* Pull it off, and you'll receive an official certificate, a Nebraska Upland Slam pin and, of course, epic bragging rights.
Find additional hunting resources on our website [ [link removed] ]; we hope to see you out on opening day!
