Despite the ongoing ceasefire, Gaza
is still essentially unlivable.
The fighting has stopped, but the dire humanitarian needs continue to
spread. Essential infrastructure — homes, hospitals, schools, and water
systems — has been damaged or destroyed. Families displaced multiple times
continue to shelter in tents amidst the rubble, with little food, clean
water, or medical care — pushed to the edge of survival.
One of our team members in Gaza, Areej, shared how deeply the war affected
his family:
"Two years filled with fear, hunger, and uncertainty, never knowing what
tomorrow would bring or when the nightmare would end. We longed for the
simple right to rest, to sleep peacefully without rockets, shelling, or
the deafening roar of aircraft above us. But what broke me most was not
hunger or fear, it was psychological torment."
While Gaza is at the early stages of a ceasefire, we must ramp up
lifesaving aid such — clean water, medicine, nutritious food, and more —
to distribute once aid corridors are open. But we need your support to
ensure we’re ready to reach as many families in Gaza and crisis zones
around the world as soon as conditions on the ground allow.
We’ve set a goal of raising $50,000 by October 31 to reach families facing
unimaginable suffering in places like Gaza, Sudan, and Ukraine. [ [link removed] ]Will

Throughout this humanitarian
catastrophe, Mercy Corps has been on the ground in Gaza, delivering as
much lifesaving and life-sustaining relief as possible.
Since October 2023, Mercy Corps and our local partners have reached more
than 371,000 people with food, water, shelter, cash, and psychosocial
support to cope with the mental impacts of war. We are actively providing
clean drinking water to those in displacement camps and are poised to
deliver thousands more kits and supplies, which currently remain blocked
at borders while lives hang in the balance just miles away.

Since the ceasefire was announced, Mercy Corps has been adamant in the
call for unfettered access to aid, guarantees of safety for aid workers,
and predictable and sustained entry points for supplies into Gaza.
In the meantime, we’ve remained active, doing as much as possible to meet
the pressing needs of the Palestinian people. Despite our team members
facing hardship themselves, Mercy Corps has been:
Providing safe drinking water through emergency trucks — to help
families access sanitation and hygiene services. We’ve supplied over
160,000 gallons of water. But it’s only a drop in the ocean for
families who need water. [ [link removed] ]Donate now
Delivering emergency food kits to families, which included canned
goods, ready-to-eat food, as well as training and seeds to grow their
own food. We’ve reached over 80,000 people facing food insecurity. But
more families need our help at this moment. [ [link removed] ]Donate now
Reaching families with emergency cash assistance, allowing them to
purchase food, water, household essentials, and hygiene products.
Since October 2023, we’ve reached more than 33,000 families. But that
is nowhere near enough to meet the needs compounding every day.

Gaza is currently
experiencing a desperately needed moment of respite. A critical moment to
ensure life-saving aid such as clean water, nutritious food, educational
and commercial supplies are available, and key infrastructure is restored
to help Palestinians recover and thrive.
Your help is vital for civilians facing challenges like hunger, war, and
poverty in places like Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, and around the world.

October 31.

The Mercy Corps Team
