Hi John,

It’s official – your lawyers will fight equalization in court.

And the fight is just starting.

Your lawyers have officially been granted leave to intervene in a big court case about equalization at the Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court.

That means taxpayers officially have a voice against Newfoundland and Labrador’s lawsuit to try to get more equalization money from taxpayers like you.

The Newfoundland and Labrador government is arguing that a province should be able to sue Ottawa for more equalization money when it doesn’t want to spend its own money on a program that another province is rolling out.

Think about that. If one province starts spending billions on some new program, should Ottawa pay for that program in other provinces? Equalization already costs $25 billion per year – how much would the bill go up?

That’s why taxfighters like you are stepping up and your legal team is pushing forward.

But let’s be blunt:

The province is backed by government lawyers with bottomless budgets and they’re banking on you giving up.

That’s a bad bet.

You can join the fight by donating today to make sure the CTF legal war chest is full so your lawyers can keep standing up for taxpayers and prepare for the court hearing.

Will you chip in to stop this massive equalization expansion?

I’m a Newfoundlander. I know equalization is bad for provinces that pay into the program and get nothing back. But it’s even worse for provinces that cash the cheques because they essentially incentivize bad policies. You can’t let provincial politicians ramp up spending while sending someone else the bill.

Thank you for standing up for taxpayers – you are making a difference!
