Hey John, it’s Emily. I’m the City Council President of Eau Claire, a mental health counselor, a small business owner, a mom, and proud to call Western Wisconsin my home.

I’m running for Congress here in the 3rd District, because it’s time for a change, it’s time for some fresh perspective, and it’s time for a leader who does the work of caring for people.

I entered politics and public service unconventionally – and it wasn’t something I aspired or planned for. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and have spent my career caring for people: helping folks through bereavement and grief, working with children in outpatient therapy, and with LGTBQ+ community members.

When Trump was elected in 2016, it felt like my world was turning upside down. I couldn’t believe we had elected someone like him, and felt in my bones like our community deserved better.

As corny as it sounds, I wanted to be the change – so I pivoted, and decided to run for Eau Claire City Council. I was elected in 2018, beating the incumbent by 24 points through good, old-fashioned hard work, door knocking, and connecting with voters. In 2023, I was elected as the Eau Claire City Council President.

I’m running to make healthcare - including mental healthcare - more accessible. Last year, Western WI saw the closing of 2 hospitals, and multiple clinics, mental health clinics, and addiction treatment centers.

I’m running to make housing more affordable, and to return the dream of home ownership to our next generation. I believe that anyone who wants a home should have a home no matter their income.

I’m running to protect the water, land, and environment of Wisconsin. Our hunters, fishers, and nature enthusiasts deserve a clean and safe place to enjoy.

I’m running to tackle the crisis of affordability that we’re seeing everywhere. Housing, childcare, transportation, groceries and so much more have gotten too expensive.

Throughout my career and time in public service, I’ve gone toe-to-toe with MAGA Republicans – and I’ve stood up for my community. and now I’m ready to go to Congress and fight for you.
