John,
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month — a time to honor survivors, break the silence, and fight for the safety and dignity of every person, especially Black, Brown, and Indigenous women who are too often left out of the conversation.
This month has been deeply personal for me. My mom, a survivor herself, danced publicly for the first time in years during an artist residency with Survivors Towards the Sun.
Watching her reclaim that joy reminded me what healing and community care can look like when survivors are given the space to bloom. 🌻
For too long, survivors, especially women of color, have been pressured to stay silent and make do with broken systems. We must advocate for better, because every person deserves to thrive, not just survive.
That’s part of why I’m running for Congress. To fight for communities that Washington ignores, and to make sure no survivor is ever left behind.
If you can, please make a small contribution today to help us keep building this movement — one rooted in care, courage, and community:
