I'm sick of watching folks in my community thrown to the street -- by cowards in masks hiding their badges -- for protesting against these authoritarian crackdowns.
So we took the streets back. Millions of us -- Black, Latino, AAPI, Native, white – filled our cities and towns not just to remind everyone that we won't be ruled by a king, but that a better world is possible.
But while we were marching, Trump and his cronies continued scheming to strip away our freedom of speech. They're saying the quiet part outloud -- making it clear that they want to “investigate” organizations standing up to authoritarian actions. They're already trying to prosecute their enemies.
Freedom of speech means the government doesn't get to decide who gets to tell jokes on TV, which schools get funded, or who does and doesn't get to join a union. Sign the petition >> protect freedom of speech and stand up to abuse of power. [[link removed]]
Enough is enough. This isn't a fight over a political disagreement; it's a response to an overreaching government that ignores the courts and disappears people off the streets for exercising our free speech.
Oh, but they found the time to pass tax cuts for billionaires.
We say NO KINGS because this country isn't just for the president and his golf buddies. Time to put all the enablers on notice: when the dust settles, there will be accountability.
Our fundamental right to loudly and proudly protest is under threat. Regardless of the threat -- whether it's billionaires buying newspapers and social media platforms or ICE agents attacking journalists and citizens -- we must stand up for our fundamental right to speech. [[link removed]]
