Proudly Representing Texas' 12th Congressional District — October 21, 2025
Read time: 2 minutes
Dear Friend,
It is unacceptable that our government has been shut down for 21 days. Senate Democrats continue to vote against the clean, short-term funding bill passed by House Republicans.
On September 19, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass the clean, short-term government funding bill by a vote of 217-212. One House Democrat and all but two House Republicans voted in favor of this bill. Along with most of my House Republican colleagues, I voted to keep the government open more than one month ago!
A prolonged shutdown will negatively affect Americans across the nation.
Despite the shutdown, my team and I are still here to serve you. My offices in Fort Worth and Washington remain open. Please reach out to my office if we can assist you in obtaining earned federal benefits, renewing passports, answering questions, or providing other services.
It is the honor of a lifetime to represent you in the United States Congress. Please don’t hesitate to contact my office if I can ever be of service.
All my best,
Congressman Craig Goldman

2 BIG UPDATES
1) The Left's Costly Shutdown
A prolonged government shutdown will hurt hardworking Americans. While President Trump is making extraordinary efforts to limit its effects, the following are just a few of the impacts we could see as this shutdown continues:
- Flight delays and disruptions will increase.
- Funding for some telehealth services for seniors has been halted.
- In Texas, more than 230,000 active-duty service members and federal civilian employees could miss a paycheck.
- About 13,000 air traffic controllers and 50,000 TSA agents are working without pay.
- About 784,000 women and children in Texas could lose access to food assistance programs.
- More than 4,000 federal employees in Texas could face unemployment during a month-long shutdown.
- About 3,455,000 Texans—including 1,341,000 children—receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits could be affected.
- About $307 million in small business loans in Texas could be delayed.
- About $6.3 billion in Texas’ gross state product could be lost during a month-long shutdown.
